SmarТТ team has been formed in the framework of the unique initiative for development of the Russian Technology Transfer Network established in 2002. On the basis of this project, a model and tools have been developed and constantly improved to support effective technological brokerage. The mechanism based on the Open Innovation concept integrates companies, universities, research institutes, as well as technology brokers on a digital information platform.

Management of R&D projects, development of innovation businesses

Over 100 projects, where we developed concepts, identified technological problems and competencies required for the technology transfer, provided consultations and on-hand support in the search of partners, including foreign ones, attracted funding.

Development of international technological cooperation between innovative companies

Setting up and development of technological ecosystems and networks

14 projects, under which we had adapted for Russia the best practices from the international experience in innovation development: from organizational schemes and methodologies to the development of call procedures for public support in compliance with the RF legislation. We had developed IT solutions for automation of business processes related to the operation of technology transfer networks and intellectual property management.

In order to support the development of research and technological cooperation between leading research centers and industrial companies in the European Union and the Russian Federation, to promote participation of researchers in joint R&D and technological programmes, a number of RF-EU projects were implemented: «ACCESSRU», «SEMIDEC», «BILAT-RUS-Advanced», and others.

"There is no successful business without a technological ecosystem. At the same time, in the current market realities, it is important to identify the establishment, support and expansion of company's ecosystem as an important and integral process of innovative development.
The main difficulty is attracting and organizing external partners without full hierarchical power or control. Here, the ecosystem architecture plays a key role - establishment of clear, transparent and fair rules, standards and norms that are adjusted as the ecosystem develops.
The effectiveness of this approach was well proved by the example of the system-forming project of the SmarTT team - the Russian Technology Transfer Network (RTTN). It is a functional tool for implementation of national and regional technology policy, enabling effective identification and dissemination of information about promising technologies and requests for them. During the years of the project's operation, a network has been set up associating more than 50 innovation centers from 40 regions"

"Solving a technological problem by creating a project consortium allows the company to use open innovation approaches that provide important advantages: possibility to test a variety of proposed solutions; pilot testing and selection of the most efficient one that meets all technological needs. An example of our work in this field is the project "Development of an industrial prototype of the information-analytical system for managing the industrial model of PJSC "United Aircraft Corporation".
This product allows, at the pre-investment stage, to assess and analyze the production capabilities of the participants in the established cooperative technological chain, to build individual production models, plan the production system, find bottlenecks and eliminate them.
To launch this project, SmarTT experts carried out the work on updating and auditing the corporation's technological problems, searching for technological solutions and partners, as well as forming the project consortium."

This way, the support from the SmarTT team played a key role in the process of gaining international cooperation by Genesis Knowledge (Samara); this company, within the international consortium under the project "Multiagent Technologies for Aircraft Industry", has developed smart system for managing production resources of enterprises in real time. The customer was EADS Group that includes Airbus, Astrium, Cassidian and Eurocopter."

"Identification of company's technological goals and needs is the responsibility of top managers and leading engineers. This is logical, since they are the ones who know the best all the technological processes and special features of the company's internal production structure. But even they may need help. The issue of "formulating a good technology request" in terms of the quality of solutions in the paradigm of Open Innovations is still very difficult. Our definition of a well-defined request is: within several minutes after reading it, a potential solution provider should be able to tell you if he can help you or not, without further questions.
A practical example of such interaction was the Russian Technology Transfer Network that associated over 50 innovation centers from 40 regions of Russia and the CIS countries with a database of over 4500 technology competencies, offers and requests."

"When setting up a startup, it is important not to become a hostage to the original hypothesis. Every day, you need to evaluate critically your achievements, to look for niches and potential customers for whom your product will be valuable. The inventors/technology owners themselves are not always able to provide an "external" view at their project. A technology broker can become an indispensable assistant – a guide and "translator" for all project beneficiaries.
SmarTT experts took part in initiating over 100 projects that gained further development. One of them, TISMAT, is an ambitious startup set up to implement the technology for manufacturing clay foam ceramics.
To implement the technology, an industrial partner was found, a team was formed to conduct R&D, support was provided in positioning the project idea and attracting the necessary funding, as well as in managing the implementation of research and development work on the project."
